wound care collagen dressing alginate cavity dressing
High Absorbency: absorbs large amounts of wound exudate then forms a gel to protect the wounds and encourage dressing, on average, up to 50ml of exudate can be produced by a wound over 24 hours period. An alginate wound dressing has the capacity to absorb up to 10-20 times of its weight avoiding contamination and maceration of healthy surrounding skin.
Wet Strength: Most alginate wound dressing can be easily removed in one piece without leaving any foreign substance or causing pain or secondary injury.
Low infection Rates: Moisture and acidic environment are conductive to neutrophils’activities, further enhancing the potential for reducing the viability of bacteria in the wound area.
Gel-forming Property: After absorption of exudates, the exchange of calcium in the dressing and sodium from wound fluid forms a stable gel that can maintain a moist wound healing environment promoting the re-generation and new growth of skin, speeding up wound healing.
